/During the summer, what is the ONE thing kids want to do most?
GO TO THE POOL!!
There are many benefits to power washing a pool deck, whether it is a community pool, or your own personal pool.
First and foremost, what is a pool deck? A pool deck is the area that surrounds the pool. This area can be constructed using a number of different materials, concrete, aggregate, stone, brick pavers, wood, or composite.
Second, what are the benefits to cleaning a pool deck regularly? Cleaning a pool deck regularly can assist with and prevent many things from occurring during the summer.
Removes dirt and debris, allowing for the pool deck to look and feel clean.
Easier on the pool filters.
Healthier for the environment. By cleaning a pool deck once when you open the pool and once before you close the pool down, you are not just making it look better, but you are removing any mold, mildew, algae, or fungus that may be growing on the deck.
Safer Surface. I don’t know about you, but I have slipped and fell plenty of times on a slippery pool deck. A pool deck will become more slippery when it becomes wet because there is a layer of algae or mold on it. It may be microscopic, but it is there and you can feel it when you walk on a wet pool deck.
Increase the homes curb appear and value. Having a clean pool deck is not only safer, but it looks better. If you’re in the market to sell you home, or just want it to look nice, cleaning the pool deck will make your home more appealing from those on the outside and it helps to increase the value of a home.
What can grow on a pool deck? Whether you want to know, or not, it is important to understand what can grow on a pool deck over the course of a season. Due to the amount of moisture the is on and around a pool deck, growth on the deck can be one or all of the following; Algae, Mold, Mildew, or Fungus (like Athlete’s foot).
What Should I Do? Pool decks should be cleaned and disinfected regularly to precent the spread of diseases, such as Athletes Foot, and reduce the slipperiness. A regular cleaning should be completed at minimum once per year, when the pool opens for the season. However, it is recommended that a cleaning be completed once when the pool opens and once when the season is over.
